Polish law provides a special procedure for certain social groups for liability for violating professional or ethical duties. It is worth noting that disciplinary liability occurs alongside criminal liability, i.e. often a given disciplinary tort may also be a misdemeanour or a crime, but this does not mean that every disciplinary tort fulfils the elements of a crime or a misdemeanour.

In most disciplinary proceedings, the Criminal Procedure Code is applied as an auxiliary measure. Moreover, the principles of tort liability are modelled on those of criminal liability.
